Ms. Urban has been teaching science for 19 years. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology from the Florida Institute of Technology in 2001. She moved to Atlanta, GA to take her first job at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention working in an HIV and immunology Laboratory, During this time, she decided to pursue teaching science as a career and completed her Masters of Education in Science Education from Georgia State University in 2004. She began her teaching career in Fulton County at North Springs High School in 2004. Ms. Urban has also taught in Richmond, Virginia and Kaneohe, Hawaii, before returning to Fulton County Schools in 2013. She taught at Riverwood International Charter School and was named their Department Chair in 2014. Ms. Urban worked as an adjunct teacher for FVS for two summers before she was hired full-time, and science lead, for the 2017-18 school year! Ms. Urban enjoys travel, Latin dancing, gardening, cooking, yoga and hiking. Ms. Urban has a gorgeous little girl named Amalia and they adopted a Kitty named Marshmallow in the fall of 2021.
